Barrington bank executive wins Athena award

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce named Ellaine Sambo-Reyther, of BMO Harris Bank, as the winner of the 2014 Athena Leadership Award at a luncheon on May 29 at the Biltmore Country Club in North Barrington.

Sambo-Reyther is a vice president and director of trust and estate services at the bank. According to a release issued by the council Tuesday, Sambo-Reyther was recognized for her work with several local civic organizations that help women succeed such as the Women's Advisory Alliance, the Women & Wealth - Teaching My Family to Give conference, Women In Need Growing Stronger and the Wellness Place.

The Athena award is given to an area woman who best personifies the qualities of Athena International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting female leaders around the world.

The other six Barrington area women nominated for the award were Bonnie Conte, of Avalon Salon & Day Spa; Marlene Frykman, of Aardvark Web Works; Kattie Gibson, of Vintage Tech Recylers; Dee Dee Johnson, of Bataille Academie of the Danse; Eleanor Sweet McDonnell, of Sweet Success Expert.com; and Jane Svensson Washburn, of Barrington Corporate Townhomes.
