Deadline June 2 for Arlington Heights banner design submissions

The Arlington Heights Arts Commission is offering local artists the opportunity to display their artwork on banners in the village's downtown area from July 15 through Oct. 31. Banner designs should follow the theme "Scenes of Summer." Approved artwork will be displayed on banner poles in the downtown area of Arlington Heights.

Deadline for submitting designs for review is Monday, June 2 and the final artwork must be submitted by Monday, June 16, at which time a $50 fee is required. Designs promoting products, sales, advertising companies or viewed as soliciting will be rejected. The village manager may deny an applicant if the design includes obscenity or religious association or does not meet the theme of the program.

Awards will be given for first, second and third place, as well as a People's Choice award.

There may be an auction of banners for any artists wishing to participate. If an auction is held, the proceeds for each banner will be donated to the charity of the artist's choice.
