Historic currency stolen from Peoria business
PEORIA- Peoria police say someone has stolen more than $200,000 worth of historic currency from a business that evaluates its condition for collectors.
According to the Journal Star in Peoria, the owner of K3B Inc. called police Sunday to report the missing notes.
In all, the owner said, the bills were worth $216,536. The disappearance from a vault was discovered during an audit. Details about the types of currency were not immediately available.
Police said K3B takes in currency from collectors and grades it based on condition and other factors.
The owner told police the thefts appear to go back about two years.
