Bicyclist, 12, hit by car in Aurora

An Aurora boy was seriously injured Wednesday morning when he was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle, police said.

The 12-year-old boy was riding near the intersection of Frost Drive and South Eola Road about 6:35 a.m. when a 2009 Hyundai Accent, driven by a 54-year-old Aurora woman, turned north onto Eola from Frost.

She struck the boy as he attempted to cross the road. The boy was taken to an Aurora hospital with serious but not life-threatening injures.

The driver was ticketed for failure to yield to a bicyclist at an intersection, police said. She was not injured.
