Naperville's Summer Place to present 'Desk Set'

Naperville's The Summer Place community theater company will open its 2014 season with "The Desk Set" by William Marchant.

The show will take center stage at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays, June 13-22, in the auditorium at Naperville Central High School, 440 W. Aurora Ave.

The show, set in the 1950s, is a three-act comedy about a group of young women working in the reference department of a television network. Everything is fine until an efficiency expert arrives and begins installing "mechanical brains" designed to eliminate the human element in the office. What follows is a game of wits between the efficiency expert and Bunny Watson, one of the employees who has all the necessary facts and figures at her fingertips.

The cast features Lori Rohr as Bunny Watson, Christopher Roe, James Christie, Emily Champlin, Nancy Braus, Allison Kasbee, Rebecca Janvrin, Jordan Vulich, Larry Lipske, Christina Ferraro, Noreen Emerson, Adriana Erickson and Dean Dranias.

The show is directed by Madeline Franklin and produced by Noreen Emerson. The behind-the-scenes team also includes Ray Bright, Susan Vulich and Frank Roberts.
