Youth unemployment round-table at Oakton

Chicago area business executives, policymakers and educators will gather at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines on Wednesday to discuss what event organizers say is the growing problem of postgraduate unemployment and underemployment.

Scheduled for the day after Oakton's commencement, the round-table discussion will involve almost 20 participants in an effort to tackle youth unemployment in the region. Three Oakton students are expected to share their experiences.

The event is sponsored by David Pattinson's American Future, a youth unemployment advocacy nonprofit. It is scheduled from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Oakton's performing arts lobby, 1600 E. Golf Road in Des Plaines.
