Advocate Sherman salutes paramedics, EMTs

In celebration of National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 18-24, Advocate Sherman Hospital is recognizing local paramedics and emergency medical technicians with more than 20 years of service.

National EMS Week gives Sherman the opportunity to bring together local communities and medical personnel to honor the dedication of those who serve on medicine's "front line" and provide day-to-day life saving services.

"Sherman sees an average of about 900 to 1,000 ambulance patients a month," said Dr. Steve Zahn, medical director of the emergency department at Advocate Sherman Hospital. "This showcases the vital role that our EMS partners play in helping to ensure our patients receive the highest quality care before they come through the hospital doors. While they may not wear Sherman on their chest, our EMS teams are truly an extension of Sherman in the field and introduce our patients to the high quality care that we deliver."
