City to test water flow in east side hydrants this week
The city of Geneva will conduct water flow tests on the city's east side fire hydrants between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, to Friday, May 23.
The testing provides valuable information to Geneva's fire and water departments on water supplies available for firefighters and where water infrastructure upgrades may be needed.
Geneva residents living east of the Fox River might experience rusty water during or immediately after the testing. The water is safe to drink, but residents are encouraged to let their faucets run for a few minutes to flush them out if they notice any discoloration.
Residents should refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear. In the event rusty water discolors clothing, keep the garment wet and call the Geneva Public Works Department at (630) 232-1501 to request a rust removing solution packet.
For more information about the water flow testing, call Fire Chief Steve Olson or Deputy Chief Jerry Koster at (630) 232-2530.
