'Pop Up Harvest Market' coming to Alexian Brothers

The Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin will be organizing an outdoor "Pop Up Harvest Market" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Alexian Brothers Women & Children's Hospital, 1555 Barrington Road, Hoffman Estates.

This "Pop Up Market" is a scaled down, preseason version of the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market, which opens Thursday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 200 N. Grove Ave., Elgin for 18 weeks.

Alexian Brothers Health Systems is the presenting sponsor of the 2014 Downtown Elgin Harvest Market and has sponsored the market since 2009.

The purpose of the "Pop Up Market" is not only to give hospital staff and patients the opportunity to have a farmers market right at their front entrance but to showcase what this weekly farmers market in downtown Elgin has to offer residents in the way of fresh, local products.

Vendors who will be attending are Breadsmith (breads from St. Charles), D&A Bee Yard (honey from Carol Stream), Troggs Hollow (local produce from Elgin and Poplar Grove), and Windy Acre Crafts (soaps, lotions, and wood items from Elgin).

For information on the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market and/or how to be a vendor, contact Harvest Market manager Jennifer Benson at (847) 488-1456 or via email at elginharvestmarket@gmail.com.
