Model railroad club to host an open house
The Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Creek Model Railroad Club will host its Spring Open House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 18.
The G scale members, in addition to repairing and aligning the tracks, are busy restoring and cleaning the buildings and structures. N scale members continue to add scenery and fine tune the mountain thunderstorm, while O gauge is expanding the carnival area and HO members are hard at work with track repairs and completing work on grade crossing signals.
The opening date for Sunday operations is May 25, the weekend after the spring open house, and will continue throughout the summer. Note that Sunday operations will be dependent on weather conditions and availability of train crews.
They will continue to post the sign, "Trains are Running," at the entrance to the baseball parking lot, and they also will post a notice on the Sun City website every Friday by noon.
It will appear in the "Charter Club Happenings" section on the bottom of the Sun City home page. Residents and the general public can check the website sccah.com in advance to see if they will be running trains. Operating hours are 1 to 4 p.m.
Both events will be held in the backyard and basement of the Millgrove Woodshop, 13400 Sun City Blvd. in Huntley. Admission is free. Children must be accompanied by adults. Guests may call (847) 669-2392 or visit sccah.com to get updates for upcoming events.
