Morgan Stanley consolidates Barrington offices

Morgan Stanley consolidated its two Barrington offices to one and held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the move Tuesday, according to a news release.

There has been a Morgan Stanley office in Barrington since 1981. In 2008, the company acquired rival Smith Barney, which operated an office at 760 W. Main St. For six years, both offices operated as Morgan Stanley branches offering wealth management services to their customers. When the lease came up on the original Morgan Stanley office at 303 E. Main St., the company decided to consolidate.

A Morgan Stanley spokesman said no positions were eliminated in the office consolidation.
