May 23: Memorial Day Ceremony at CLC

The seventh annual College of Lake County Memorial Day ceremony will begin at noon on Friday, May 23. The ceremony will be held outdoors at the CLC Willow Lake Veterans Memorial on the Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

Staff from Naval Station Great Lakes will support the event with a chaplain, color guard, a echo buglers, the 13 folds of the flag ceremony, along with the U.S. Marine Corps drill team. Guest speakers include Congressman Brad Schneider (10th District), a gold star mother and father, and several active duty personnel. The ceremony will also include a bagpiper, the national anthem and reciting names of the servicemen with Lake County ties who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Master of ceremonies will be Mike Peck, superintendent of the Lake County Veterans Assistance Commission.

Individuals who have made donations to the CLC Foundation for tribute bricks to support construction of the memorial are invited to view their bricks, and all community members, veterans and families of those serving in the armed forces are welcome to attend.
