Bike Rodeo to raise awareness of childhood cancers on Saturday

The Naperville organization Bike Bald invites the community to a Bike Rodeo to support childhood cancer awareness.

The rodeo is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the parking lot of Centennial Beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave. in downtown Naperville

This event, with the theme "a salute to heroes and bringing communities together," will include a Badge Rodeo featuring a professional bicycle agility obstacle course where individuals - many of whom wear badges - will compete for the best time.

First responders, including police officers, firefighters, EMS, park police, cadets, physicians and nurses from Chicago-area communities, have been invited to compete.

Local public officials, schoolteachers and businesses representatives, along with community members, have been invited to participate as well. A $20 tax-deductible donation is requested to participate to support childhood cancer awareness. Register by visiting BikeBald.com.

Bike Bald also will have a Kids Rodeo Safety Obstacle Course for ages 4 to 12. There will be a helmet safety area, bike checkups for the community and a vendor market. Live music will be provided by Billy Croft & The 5 Alarm Band.

Community members are encouraged to ride their bikes to the event and to wear a helmet.
