Join Bobcat Blitz walk/run May 10 in Palatine

Runners and walkers alike are invited to participate in Immanuel Lutheran's "Bobcat Blitz" 5K and One Mile walk on Saturday, May 10. The one mile walk will start at 9 a.m. and the 5K will start at 9:30 a.m. Both offer participants a chance to have fun and compete in a community event.

Both races are an out-and-back style on a fast, flat course that runs through the quiet and scenic neighborhood streets of downtown Palatine. The 5K course will offer a water station at the halfway point and there will be plenty of food and refreshments following the races for all participants.

Overall male and female winners of the 5K will win their choice of Saucony brand running shoes and second place will win gift cards courtesy of Dick Pond Athletics. The top three age group winners will be awarded custom Bobcat Blitz medals.

Participants are encouraged to stay post-race as well for music from Rockin' DJ Sandusky, games, and raffle prizes.

"Please join us for our inaugural Bobcat Blitz 5K and One-Mile Run/Walk. This is going to be a great event with a great cause," said Jean Link, one of the race's organizers and an avid runner, who most recently competed in the Wisconsin Marathon last Saturday. "All proceeds will directly benefit Immanuel Lutheran Church and School. What better way to connect with our community than a morning of fun, fellowship, and fitness. I would like to offer my most sincere thanks to all of our sponsors, volunteers, and participants. I look forward to an amazing day of racing."

Registration information can be found on Immanuel's website: www.Immanuelpalatine.org/5K
