Colton Wagner belted a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, and Lake Zurich's baseball team never looked back en route to a 6-2 win over Antioch in a North Suburban Conference crossover Friday.

Steven Elrod had an RBI double and Joey Holtz added a 2-run single in a 5-run fifth for the Bears.

Antioch got 2 hits apiece from Sam Smithson, Nick Muskat and Adam Harvey, while Collin Prather had an RBI double.

Lake Zurich's Jason Sweetwood went the distance on the mound, striking out four and allowing only 1 earned run. He gave up 9 hits but did not walk a batter.

Grayslake North 6, Grayslake Central 5: The host Knights snapped the Rams' five-game winning streak, pushing across the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth to snap a 5-5 tie in the Fox Valley Conference game.

Grayslake Central (13-9, 7-5) had scored 5 runs in the top of the fifth to pull even.

Grayslake North (10-12, 5-5) got 2 hits apiece from Drake Isaacs and Tyler Elias. Jeffery Ritter pitched 1⅓ innings in relief to get the win. Kyle Baker pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Mundelein 4, Vernon Hills 3: The Mustangs scored 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Cougars in walk-off fashion.

Vernon Hills extended its lead in the North Suburban crossover to 3-1 in the top of the seventh, as Jordan Freibrun led off with a double and scored on Connor McNamara's single.

In the Mundelein seventh, after one out, Michael Metz was hit by a pitch. Derek Parola then singled to right-center on an eight-pitch at-bat. Logan Reckert followed with an RBI single, and Luke Adams' 2-run double to center field capped a thrilling win for Mundelein (21-1).

Carter Naughton picked up the win.

Nick Newman provided an excellent start for the Cougars, going 6⅓ innings, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits, walking three and striking out eight. Freibrun (2 runs), Jake Boyer, Andrew Willey and McNamara (2 RBI) each had 2 hits for Vernon Hills.

Lakes 8, Warren 4: Joe Sisk homered for the second day in a row and drove in 3 runs for the Eagles in the North Suburban crossover.

Brad Borzick went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for Lakes (10-7), which won its fourth in a row.

Sisk hit a 2-run home run in the top of the first to stake the Eagles to a 2-0 lead. They picked up an additional run when Billy Morris reached on a catcher's interference, moved up on Joe Dahlke's bunt and scored from second on a wild pitch that the catcher could not locate.

The big inning came for Lakes came in the sixth when it put up 5 runs with the aid of 3 walks, a hit batsman and 2 errors. Ben Haviland picked up the win, allowing 0 runs on 1 hit in 5 innings.

Warren scored four times in the seventh to make it interesting, but the game ended with a fly out to left field with a runner on first base.
