School of Education hosts 'Day at Judson' seminar

Judson University's School of Education will host its annual "A Day at Judson" seminar, featuring educator and author Jeff Anderson, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the Lindner Campus Commons, 1151 N. State St., Elgin.

This semiannual, daylong seminar welcomes more than 180 local teachers to hear from leading experts in the field of education. Educators can earn six CPDUs by attending this event. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Anderson will discuss invitational grammar and editing for second through 12th grades.

"Grammar doesn't have to make young writers - or teachers - miserable," Anderson said. "When approached in an inviting way, grammar sparks curiosity and gives students power to shape meaning and style. Come think, write, and laugh."

Anderson has been sharing writing strategies with teachers and students for over 20 years. Whether presenting at national conferences like the National Council of Teachers of English, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, or in classrooms or writing his books, Anderson's passion for writing and grammar inspires teachers and young writers to soar. He is the author of multiple instructional books for helping educators teach writing, including, "10 Things Every Writer Needs to Know," "Everyday Editing," and "Mechanically Inclined."
