Rail crossing work starts Monday in Lake Zurich

Work is set to begin Monday on a rough railroad crossing on South Old Rand Road in downtown Lake Zurich. Old Rand will be closed to through traffic to accommodate the work near a hardware store and lumber outlet. Village officials said the area should reopen to traffic Friday, May 9. Extensive track and underground improvements are planned and expected to result in a smoother crossing. Downtown businesses on South Old Rand Road will remain open and accessible to drivers during the project. Commuters may need to use Main Street and Route 22 to navigate the area.
