Holy Family hosts derby style gala

Holy Family Catholic Community opened the season at the Arlington Heights International Race Track early this year. On April 12, over 350 people gathered trackside to raise funds for the learning programs at Holy Family including the school, teen programs and adult learning night lecture series.

"We celebrated Derby Style," said Bernie Schaeffer, 2014 gala chairman. "Ladies donned hats and the gents wore their silks and seersucker suits."

This year marked the 12th running of the annual gala, which benefits the entire parish community of 3,500 families.

After the dinner and auction, Derby Style celebrating continued in the Track's Silks lounge with music and dancing.

"It warms my heart, seeing so many people united in the common pursuit of supporting our vibrant, growing church and having fun at the same time," said Fr. Terry Keehan, pastor of Holy Family.
