Rand Paul not good enough, but Obama is?

The esteemed commentator Richard Cohen wrote April 16 that Rand Paul is an unqualified political amateur and demonstrates "just how low the GOP has sunk" to consider him as a potential presidential candidate. Rand Paul is a medical doctor with many years of practice before entering politics. His father, Ron Paul, spent 20-plus years serving in Congress and ran for president twice. Agree or not with his politics, Rand Paul is not a novice.

It is stunning that Cohen would never consider that our current president of the left entered office with "a gaggle of ideas untethered to practicality or practical experience." Hence, we have a president who spent just two years in the Senate with a law degree who never practiced law or held a job in the private sector. Yet he is qualified, according to Cohen, to change our health care and hope it works. Cohen is so bereft of common sense and "untethered to practicality" that he cannot see his own hypocrisy. Six years ago he might have made a contribution if he had written "Amateur status not flattering for Barack Obama."
