Enjoy spring walk through gardens, forest preserves
The Northern Kane County Wild Ones will offer garden walks on Saturday, April 26.
They will be touring the garden of Nancy Rascher and then walk the short distance to tour Trout Park Nature Preserve with forest preserve steward Sue Bohne.
Meet at 10 a.m. at the Rascher home at 545 Glenwood Trail, Elgin.
At 11 a.m., they will walk to Trout Park. Trout Park is located off Route 25 on the east side of Elgin.
It features a nature preserve and steep wooded bluffs above the Fox River. This rare natural community is termed a forested fen. You may see many spring ephemerals and many uncommon shrubs and trees.
