Lake County celebrates Earth Day
About 100 students and faculty from Computer Systems Institute in Gurnee spent Earth Day picking up garbage around the campus and the surrounding neighborhood.
During "CSI Saves the Planet," the post secondary technical school members contributed their time to improving the community Tuesday.
"Earth Day reminds us that it is really important for us to keep a healthy environment," director of student services Roxanne Peplow said. "It is also important to teach our students not only technical skills but life skills."
Other Earth Day events in Lake County included a tree planting at St. Joseph Catholic School in Libertyville, activities for students at Woodland Primary School in Gages Lake and a visit from the Lake County Farm Bureau at Adler Park School in Libertyville. Students also participated in a waste-free lunch at the school.
