Hersey, Palatine clinch MSL divisional ties
Hersey and Palatine have clinched ties for divisional titles in Mid-Suburban League boys water polo.
The Pirates got 8 goals from Omar El Hoffi and 4 from Wally Kleinfeldt in a 13-9 decision against Schaumburg on Monday.
That keeps Palatine unbeaten in the West Division, with a 2-game lead over Barrington two games remaining in divisional play.
Other key contributors for Palatine were Kristiyan Kalev (4 goals, 2 kickouts drawn), Charlie Davis (13 saves) and Jacob Baran, who didn't allow a goal while defending the 2-meter position.
Conant moved into third place in the MSL West by edging Fremd 10-8 on Monday.
Hersey is unbeaten in divisional play with an 8-0 record after topping Elk Grove 11-6 in the MSL East. Hersey can clinch an outright divisional repeat with one more win in its final two games.
The Huskies (14-2 overall) saw a program record broken last week as senior George Vladimirov set a single-game scoring mark with 10 goals in a 16-8 victory over Rolling Meadows.
