May 10: Dean Regan to perform Broadway hits at CLC

Broadway vocalist Dean Regan will celebrate Broadway past and present in his live show, "Give My Regards to Broadway: The Music, The Stories, The Magic" at 8 p.m. on May 10 at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the College of Lake County.

Regan's show brims with classic Broadway tunes such as "Once in Love With Amy" ("Where's Charley") and "This Nearly Was Mine" from "South Pacific" and new hits such as "Defying Gravity" from "Wicked."

The Los Angeles Press wrote that "when Regan sings ... it tears your heart out" and dubbed him "stunning and poignant," "charming, handsome, foot-loose and fancy-free." The Los Angeles Times wrote: "[Regan is] likable and sympathetic. You couldn't find yourself in better 'Company.'" He was named "Artist of the Year" by Professional Artists for his concert performances, which are known for his ability to connect deeply with his audiences. On stage, he is accompanied by Nick Fryman's Midnight Blue Sextet, consisting of piano, upright bass, trumpet, drums, trombone and saxophone.

On the New York stage, Regan performed on- and off-Broadway in "Cabaret," "The Man of La Mancha," "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and "Equus." On TV, he has appeared on "NYPD Blue" and "Secrets."

In Los Angeles, Regan produced and performed a series of concerts for Crystal Cruises for its Inaugural 96-day World Cruise. He won awards in his performances of "Company" (Garland and Drama-Logue Award for the role of "Bobby") and "Cabaret" (Garland award for his role as the "Emcee"). In the past year, Regan has performed all over the country and recorded an album entitled, "Give My Regards to Broadway," which landed on TheatreMania's "Top Male Vocalists of 2011" list.
