Maxon to host Illinois Leukemia-Lymphoma Society fundraiser in Des Plaines

Maxon Shooter's Supplies & Indoor Range will host a fundraising event benefiting the Illinois Leukemia/Lymphoma Society from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, at their facility in Des Plaines.

The fundraiser will feature raffles, door prizes, a silent auction and range specials, all provided by Maxon. The event is open to the public. Parking is free along with admission. There is a fee for people who choose to use the range.

Chicago firefighter and event coordinator Patrick Jessee is a candidate for the LLS' Man/Woman of The Year campaign, which is a 10-week fundraising competition among 14 male and female candidates in the Chicagoland area.

The candidates who raise the most money over the 10-week period will be named Man/Woman of The Year at the campaign's Grand Finale Gala on Saturday, May 17, at the Swissotel in downtown Chicago.

The candidates plan events, gather auction items for the gala, and appeal to their friends, family and co-workers to raise funds for LLS during the 10-week period. The Maxon event is one of several fundraising events.

"We are grateful to Patrick Jessee for his commitment and support of LLS," said Heidi Snell, LLS deputy executive director. "Without the fundraising efforts of Patrick and each and every candidate, we would not be able to invest in the dynamic research that is improving outcomes for people with blood cancers."

Corporate chef Danny Serio of Elk Grove Village will personally prepare a variety of barbecue foods during the course of the daylong event. Serio is a graduate of the Kendall College School of The Culinary Arts.
