Palatine man pleads guilty to wire fraud

A Palatine man charged with using more than 20 cloned debit cards to withdraw funds from a Schiller Park ATM pleaded guilty to wire fraud, court records show.

Kiril Dinev, 45, was sentenced to four years in prison Wednesday in exchange for his guilty plea, records show. The judge recommended Dinev be admitted into the Illinois Department of Corrections' drug and alcohol abuse treatment program.

Prosecutors say Dinev illegally obtained personal bank information from 20 people who live overseas and withdrew funds from their accounts numerous times. He was arrested Nov. 4 after he tried to withdraw funds from a Walgreens ATM, according to a statement from the office of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan.
