Parkview to seek affiliation with Wabash hospital

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - A not-for-profit health system that includes eight hospitals across northeastern Indiana has agreed to pursue an affiliation agreement with another hospital in the region.

The Journal Gazette and the News-Sentinel report the Wabash County Hospital has agreed in a letter of intent to affiliate with Parkview Health, which has facilities in Allen, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble and Whitley counties.

Parkview Health says the structure of the affiliation will be defined in the coming months.

The two said in a statement a rapidly changing health care environment and changes in reimbursements contributed to the decision.

Wabash County Hospital is a 25-bed hospital in Wabash founded in 1919.
