Suspicious package on freight car delays Aurora Metra train
A suspicious package on a freight car delayed a Metra commuter train arriving in Aurora Saturday afternoon, officials said.
A westbound Metra train on its BNSF line was stopped about 2 p.m. at the Route 59 station for an hour while police investigated a suspicious package on a freight car near Eola Road, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.
Police then let the train resume traveling to the Aurora station downtown.
An eastbound train departing the station for Chicago also was running 49 minutes late because of the investigation, Reile said.
The DuPage County Sheriff's office and BNSF police continue to investigate the suspicious package.
