Hollywood Palms partners with parrot rescue for family event
Hollywood Palms is working with HAPPE Parrot Rescue to bring awareness of the proper treatment of birds with a family event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the cinema at 352 S. Route 59, Naperville.
Dozens of birds will be there for viewing, including some that are up for adoption. Before showings of "Rio 2," the founders of Helping with the Adoption and Placement of Parrots Everywhere Parrot Rescue will give a short presentation to inform guests about caring for birds and the important role they play in the community. Children will be allowed to meet the birds and ask questions.
Before the screenings, kid activities in the lobby will include face painting, a craft table, a meet-and-greet with the birds from HAPPE Parrot Rescue, a silent auction, a photo booth with bird props and a special visit from the Easter Bunny. "Rio 2" prizes and free admission tickets will be raffled.
Hollywood Palms will donate $1 for the sale of each tub of popcorn all day.
H.A.P.P.E. Parrot Rescue is an Illinois-based organization assisting with the adoption and placement of exotic birds through a network of foster-care homes and coordinated efforts with other licensed avian organizations throughout the United States. HAPPE also provides education, rehabilitation and behavior management consultation.
