Waubonsee instructor leads trip to view Adler After Dark

Waubonsee Community College will again offer community members the chance to spend an evening among the stars, complete with cocktails. From 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 17, Waubonsee Adjunct Instructor Ken Davy will lead a trip to Adler Planetarium in Chicago for Adler After Dark, one of the city's most popular evening events.

On the third Thursday of each month, Adler reinvents itself with a new theme, and stays open for adults to explore the planetarium, while also enjoying a cash bar, appetizers and entertainment. Participants can tour exhibits, take in a sky show or even peer through huge telescopes.

In April, the Adler After Dark theme will be "Geek Chic 2.0," which will be all about science fiction favorites, including Star Wars, Star Trek and Dr. Who. Those in attendance can spend time with actors portraying characters from the Star Wars universe, enjoy a free soda booth or participate in the second annual Geek Chic Trivia Extravaganza.

Cost for this package is $59, and includes motor coach transportation, general admission and Davy's fascinating insights. Attendees must be at least 21. Tickets will be sold through March 31 at waubonseetickets.com.
