Area departments fighting brush fire near Lake Villa

The Lake Villa Fire protection district has requested a box alarm for a brush fire that is burning along the Metra tracks north of Monaville Road.

Brush trucks from several area fire departments, including Lake Villa, Antioch, Round Lake and Fox Lake, have been called to the scene.

Flames have been seen by residents in the Venetian Village subdivision just west of Route 83.

A Metra spokesman said the fire is not disrupting commuter service on the North Central line.
