Police show appreciation for pastors

Submitted by Mundelein Police Department

Mundelein Police Department's STAND UP coalition recently held an appreciation breakfast for local pastors in Mundelein and the surrounding communities to thank them for the important work they do mentoring local youth.

Police Chief Eric Guenther addressed the pastors and explained the importance of a strong partnership.

"Law enforcement and the faith-based communities need to work together to help make an impact on the youths in our communities and guide our youth away from alcohol and drugs," Chief Guenther said.

Mundelein Police Department's STAND UP coalition is a coalition of community leaders (law enforcement, schools, business owners, churches, students, and the like) whose mission is to develop strategies to prevent underage alcohol consumption and illegal drug use in communities. Chief Guenther reminded the pastors that the police department is a resource they can use and that he looked forward to serving them in the future on this important topic.

Mundelein STAND UP meets at 8:30 a.m. the second Thursday of the month at the Mundelein Police Department, 221 N. Lake St., Mundelein, and is open to all members of the community. The next meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. April 10.
