Three GOP hopefuls vie for District 10 seat
The three Republicans running for the 10th District seat on the Lake County Board tried to set themselves apart from each other in recent questionnaires for the Daily Herald.
Chuck Bartels, Cornelius Shanahan and Terri Voss are vying for the GOP nomination. All are from Mundelein.
No Democrat is running in the March 18 primary.
Incumbent Republican Diana O'Kelly isn't seeking re-election in the Mundelein-area district.
Voss is a Mundelein trustee, while Shanahan serves on the Fremont Township board. Bartels is running his first campaign.
The Daily Herald asked the candidates about a variety of issues in the questionnaires. Here are their responses.

Q. What differentiates you most from your opponents in the race?
Bartels: I am the only true Republican with countywide experience in this race. I have extensive, practical volunteer and business experience: local, regional and global.
I recently retired from ManpowerGroup, a Fortune 150 company operating in 80 countries. I was previously co-owner and CEO of Manpower's sixth largest U.S. franchise, which (in 2000) was named the ninth largest employer in our area by the Business Journal.
While other candidates have limited experience, I have prepared to serve on the county board with board leadership and member experience for numerous public/private, civic, business and charitable organizations. I have collaborated with Lake County elected officials and staff. I know how to get the right things done.
Shanahan: Community involvement with different groups. Professional experience and knowledge of state highway transportation.
Voss: I am the most experienced at representing members of the community. As a trustee, I have proven myself to be a conscientious, reliable, and energetic board member. I have been involved in local government, strategic and comprehensive planning, negotiating public private partnerships, and providing responsive representation for the community.
