HandsOn seeks nominations for volunteer awards
HandsOn Suburban Chicago (HOSC) invites nonprofit and community agencies to send award nominations for outstanding volunteers to be honored at the 2014 Impact Awards & Volunteer Recognition Breakfast Wednesday, April 30, at the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights.
Nominations are due by Friday, March 21, to be considered for the award and are being accepted in the following categories:
• Emerging Leader(s) Award: The award recognizes a youth volunteer or volunteer group in grades 1-12 who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and passion through volunteerism and possesses the dedication to make a difference in the community in the future.
• Community Champion Award: The award recognizes a volunteer or volunteer group who consistently makes a difference through innovative and indispensable volunteer roles.
• Lead with Experience Award: Sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the award recognizes a current volunteer older than 55 who is a member of the RSVP Program who consistently uses his/her experience and leadership skills to inspire and mobilize others to make a difference.
• Military Service Member Award: Sponsored by Altria, this award recognizes an outstanding volunteer who, as a current or former member of any branch of the United States military, uses his/ her talents to improve the lives of community members.
Nominations must be sent through the online 2014 Impact Awards Nomination Form. Access to the form is also available through the HandsOn Suburban Chicago website, www.HandsOnSuburbanChicago.org.
Organizations may nominate one or several individuals or groups for an award. One individual or group of individuals will be honored within each category at the Impact Awards breakfast for their volunteer efforts. Award nominees and nominators will be invited to the ceremony.
For more than 40 years, HandsOn Suburban Chicago has been inspiring, equipping and mobilizing people to volunteer and take action that builds vibrant and prosperous communities.
HOSC recruits and refers 10,000 volunteers annually to more than 200 member agency nonprofits and schools, and provides other support to local charitable organizations, such as consultations and trainings.
A nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency and part of the national HandsOn Network, HOSC service area includes 44 core communities in Chicagoland and a population of more than 1.4 million residents.
