Mundelein Invitational to feature 21 show choirs, 19 jazz bands

Mundelein High School's music department will host the 49th Mundelein Invitational from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the high school.

The event will include 19 jazz bands and 21 show choirs from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. While the host MHS music groups may not compete, they will perform in exhibition during the day.

Admission for the jazz performances only is $5. The cost for the preliminary and final show choir performances is $15; show choir daytime only, 7:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., $10; and show choir finals only, 7:30-11:30 p.m., $10.

Various concessions will be available throughout the day, with proceeds benefiting the MHS Jazz and Show Choir programs.

Show choirs will perform in the auditorium, jazz bands in the main gym, and vocal solos in the north gym.

The Bob Lark Alumni Big Band will perform from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in the main gym. Veteran jazz trumpeter and fluegelhorn master Dr. Bob Lark has directed many big bands for more than 20 years as director of jazz studies at DePaul University in Chicago.
