Ela library program about trains a big hit with little engineers
Nearly 20 children ages 3 to 5 showed they were "Wild About Trains" Tuesday when they participated in the Ela Area Public Library program in Lake Zurich.
The kids were first told stories about trains, then built their own trains with the help of their parents by using cardboard boxes big enough to sit in. The kids ran their creations on a track set up in one of the meeting rooms.
"We tried this with cars last year and thought it would be a fun thing to do with trains," children's librarian Liz Fraser said.
Kim Jenkins of Lake Zurich said her son, Ryan, is "really into trains."
"We couldn't pass up this opportunity," she said as she watched Ryan choo-choo around the room.
