New North Avenue bridge planned at Villa Park, Elmhurst border
A bridge over the Salt Creek on the border of Villa Park and Elmhurst will be replaced through the state's capital construction program.
The bridge is a section of North Avenue, just west of Kingery Highway, that holds six lanes of traffic.
Gov. Pat Quinn announced Friday that it will cost $2.9 million to complete the project, which will be overseen by the Illinois Department of Transportation. A contract has been awarded to Illinois Constructors Corporation of Elburn to do the work.
