American dream and politics of futility

The American dream. Struggle, do without, save every dime you can for a down payment on a home. You could build equity after a time and it all seemed worth it. Those days are long gone.

Unless you've been in the same home for a very long time, it just doesn't happen anymore. Most homes aren't even worth what you paid for them. Still, taxes rise as well as utilities. Expenses go up and income does not.

Health care is a joke, even on Medicare. Deductibles go up. Premiums go up.

The politicians who make these decisions don't have to follow the rules they implemented. They don't have pensions taken away. They have health care we could only dream of.

Global warming is another concern. The frigid temperatures around the world should tell us something. Our government spends billions of dollars on other things, many not important to most of us. Do they think it's so far ahead they don't have to worry about it?

And so, what do we do? A revolution? I think not. If we all refused to vote, the choices are very limited. Then what would happen?

I feel sorry for my children, they will be the ones that pay more than what we have.
