Bartlett wins state grant for bike paths
Gov. Pat Quinn announced Thursday that the village of Bartlett will receive a $36,800 state grant to build bike paths as part of a program encouraging green transportation and healthy living.
"This investment will provide more opportunities for people to get out, get healthy and enjoy what Bartlett has to offer," Quinn said. "Bicycling is an ideal activity for young and old, and this path will make biking safer and more convenient."
The grant will help reimburse Bartlett for the cost of constructing two paths linking the Glenn A. Koehler Fields and the Lakewood Mill subdivision with James "Pate" Phillip State Park.
"I am pleased to see this project receive the funding it needs in order to move forward," state Rep. Mike Fortner, a West Chicago Republican, said in a news release. "The construction of this bicycle path will add to Bartlett's recreation opportunities and help create a safer and healthier community."
