Wright brothers make a stop at Bartlett library
The Presidents Day holiday provided the perfect opportunity for a group of school-age children to be entertained when the Wright Brothers made a crash landing at the Bartlett Public Library.
The original musical "The Wright Stuff," a Face to Face theatrical production based on the life of Orville and Wilbur Wright, offered a perspective on the Wright brothers' historical first flight.
Kids were entertained as Wilbur (Mark Grimsich) and Orville (David Korzatkowksi) accidentally crash landed at the Bartlett Public Library in the present day. Realizing the audience knew little about their experience, the brothers shared, through song and dance, how they made improvements to a sled, bicycle and bike.
Through continued research and problem solving, their curiosity and invention led them to discover how a motor and propeller could actually get a plane off the ground.
The brothers then transformed the set of the musical into the first Wright flyer while entertaining their audience as Orville reenacted his first historical flight before their eyes.
