Will County officers find more than 600 pot plants
A Will County man is facing charges after authorities say they found hundreds of marijuana plants growing in a basement.
The Joliet Herald-News reports authorities found 639 marijuana plants in the basement of a Manhattan home.Will County Sheriff's spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer says the basement was divided into various growing rooms with “elaborate electrical, venting and irrigation systems.”
She says the plants had a street value of about $350,000.
A 52-year-old man facing a series of drug charges and is being held on $50,000 bond. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
Manhattan is about 30 miles southwest of Chicago.
