Julie Hamilton Receives Professional Award

Julie L. Hamilton of Arlington Heights was named a Fellow of the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA) at their 54th Annual Convention held February 6-8 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. ISHA Fellowship Awards recognize individuals who have provided outstanding service within the profession and the state of Illinois.

Ms. Hamilton was recognized for her work as a strong grassroots advocate for issues faced by school based speech-language pathologists. She has served on the ISHA Student Affairs Committee and as the Student Liaison Chair at the annual convention. Through her leadership during the more than 10 years as the Student Liaison Chair, there are more student volunteers at Convention than duties available for them. Ms. Hamilton also served as ISHA's Vice President of Educational Development.

Because of her expertise as a school speech-language pathologist, Ms. Hamilton is a mentor to students and she generously shares her expertise and experience with student teachers. Julie provides students with a true overview of successfully managing a school caseload. She serves a diverse school population and has successfully advocated to equip her classroom with technology to enhance the students' experiences.
