Suburban student missing from Southern Illinois University

The family of a missing Southern Illinois University student from the suburbs is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts.

Pravin Varughese, 19, was last seen Wednesday night near SIU's campus in Carbondale, authorities said.

A Carbondale Police Department news release describes Varughese as a white male, 5-foot-7, 150 pounds, with short brown hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, dark blue jeans and purple shoes. He has a chest tattoo that reads "Fear God."

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Carbondale Police Department, (618) 457-3200, or Southern Illinois University Department of Public Safety, (618) 453-5369.

Another reward of up to $1,000 may be given for information provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (618) 549-COPS (2677).
