Former Harley store to become auto shop

A portion of the massive commercial space that once housed a Harley Davidson dealership at 2200 Rand Road in Palatine will be converted into an auto repair shop.

The Palatine village council approved a plan that converts motorcycle repair space into an auto repair shop operated by the management group from a neighboring business.

Steve Pass, the owner of Pemex Auto Sales, said they will turn the space into a place where they can repair cars they sell at their business next door and cars belonging to regular customers.

Before Harley took over the space in 1993, it was an independent auto repair shop. In the late 1980s the building was converted to a golf cart dealership.
