Boys basketball: Week 10 MVP

Naperville Central senior forward Patrick Maloney has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for his recent boys basketball performances.

Patrick Maloney, Naperville Central: Maloney led the way as the Redhawks won twice in the DuPage Valley Conference, including a huge victory at West Aurora. The 6-foot-6 senior forward scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a victory over Glenbard East and then dominated with 20 points and 14 boards against West Aurora.

Aidan Einloth, Grayslake North: The 6-foot-4 sophomore's performance in an 89-78 loss to Hampshire showed why he's been a varsity starter since the opening week of his freshman season. He scored a career-high 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 10 assists, giving him his first career triple-double.

Jake Esp, Marmion: The 6-foot-5 junior forward enjoyed two big scoring nights to help surging Marmion raise its record above .500 for the first time this season. Esp scored 19 points in an 80-56 win over Montini. Three nights later he scored 25 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the Cadets' 60-56 victory over Glenbard South.

Robert Kleczynski, Westminster Christian: This sophomore was a key figure in Westminster Christian's run to the Northeastern Conference Tournament title last weekend. He led the Warriors with 13 points in Friday's 48-37 quarterfinal win over IMSA. On Saturday, the 6-foot-2 forward scored 8 points in a semifinal win over Mooseheart and led Westminster to the championship with 17 points in 48-33 victory over Luther North.

D'Angelo McBride, Conant: The Cougars 6-foot-4 senior forward has been steady all season and produced one of his best efforts in an MSL West contest against Barrington. McBride scored 17 of his game-high 21 points in the first half on 6-for-8 shooting from the field as Conant won 61-37 to stay in contention for the West title. McBride had 7 points the next night in a victory at Deerfield as the Cougars' win streak reached 12.
