Forest Preserve programs help preschoolers explore the wonders of nature

Sign up your child to explore the wonders of nature on Thursdays at the "Nature Tykes" and "Little Naturalists" programs, offered by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. Registration is $5 per child, per session.

On Aug. 27, "Nature's Noisemakers" will be the theme. On Sept. 24, they will explore "Animals on the Move" followed on Oct. 22 by "Oh, Nuts!"

In "Nature Tykes," 3-year-olds explore the natural world through a variety of activities with their parent or caregiver. Sessions include a combination of stories, nature hikes, songs, games and crafts. It runs from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center.

"Little Naturalists" is an hourlong program for 4-year olds. Children will discover the wonders of nature through a variety of activities including songs, hikes, stories, games and crafts. This program is for the young participants. Parents, caregivers and siblings may enjoy the trails of LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, or wait inside the nature center, during the program. It runs from 1 to 2 p.m. at Creek Bend Nature Center.
