Fine Line to offer demos at St. Charles Fine Art Show

Live demonstrations of blacksmithing, copper, flamework, ceramics, painting, felting, weaving, metals, clay and more will captivate and intrigue visitors at Fine Line Creative Arts Center's booth Saturday, May 24, and Sunday, May 25, at the 16th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show.

The Fine Art Show takes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on Riverside Avenue, between Route 64 and Illinois Avenue. It features the work of 100 juried artists in various mediums, including watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, fiber, wood, and glass, which are exhibited and available for sale during the event.

Admission is free, and there will be live music and artist demonstrations throughout the festival.

"The Downtown St. Charles Partnership invited us to participate in this year's fine art show, and we're very excited to do this for our second year in a row," said Fine Line Director Lynn Caldwell.

Of special note, this year's booth will include two days of blacksmithing with Fine Line instructor Dan Caldwell, assisted by a few of his students.

Last year, Fine Line's booth - actually a double booth - featured weaving, spinning, and other demonstrations of textile classes offered at Fine Line. Caldwell said this year's booth will feature "everything else."

This demonstration booth is being sponsored once again by STC Capital Bank in St. Charles. Come check out the action just north of the Illinois Street bridge.

More than 40 faculty and 1,200 students participate in 200 classes every year at Fine Line, learning and practicing the skills that provide the foundation for artistic expression. Check out classes, workshops, gallery events and more at fineline.org.

The St. Charles Fine Art Show is held rain or shine. For information, visit www.stcharlesfineartshow.com.
