ECC offers new mobile app for students

Elgin Community College released a new mobile application for download to connect the college with students and community members on their cellphones and other mobile devices. The new app, called GO, became available in November.

GO replaces the college's current mobile app, Mox, and promises more features and a better user interface. The app allows users to access campus maps, course schedules, phone contacts, campus news, and other features.

"We know our students are looking for mobile options for what they access online," says Annamarie Schopen, ECC's director of student and academic systems.

"With GO, we're offering them a more convenient way to connect with ECC."

The GO app is available for iPhone and Android phones, as well as the iPad, Android tablets, and KindleFire. To download, search for "Ellucian GO" in your mobile app store.

It features:

• Important phone numbers - key offices, deans, switchboard, campus safety;

• Faculty directory;

• Emergency phone numbers;

• Grades;

• Campus news and announcements;

• Campus maps;

• Course schedule;

• Notifications, such as overdue fees, library holds, parking ticket holds, etc.;

• Social media links;

• Multimedia capability.
