Wary of being part of library district
The homeowners in Plato Township and the surrounding area should be aware of a referendum vote that will be on the November ballot regarding access to the Gail Borden Library for approximately 870 households in the area.
Voters will have the option to vote themselves into the library district according to information published on May 1, 2014. It indicated that if you have property valued at $150,000, you will pay approximately $240 in additional property tax. However, most of the homes in the area are valued in the range of $400,000 to $500,000 and some even higher.
I encourage voters in Plato Township to consider this referendum very carefully.
