Let kids make school choice
Let kids make school choice
So much has been published about charter schools and parents choosing to send their children to these schools.
It is not the parents who should be deciding. We grew up in Chicago. We walked to our neighborhood school. Walking to school was part of our school day and it was fun in all kinds of weather. We had good teachers. We liked our teachers and they liked us. If we were given the choice of attending a charter school, would we have gone? I doubt it.
Parents should let students decide if they want to attend a charter school. Presently some schools have been deemed failing schools. Let us fix them by bringing charter schools teachers to the failing schools and close charter schools.
Would parents want to send their children across the city to a charter school if their school had super teachers on their school faculty? Hardly.
