Discover morels during nature programm

Discover morels, an early spring mushroom, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve, 35W076 Villa Marie Road in St. Charles.

Naturalists with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County will take you on a guided hike, where you'll head into the woods to hunt for, but not harvest, morels. They are considered to be a delicacy by many mushroom enthusiasts.

Attendees will learn how to identify morels and distinguish them from other fungi. The morel's habitat requirements and role in ecology will also be discussed.

All ages are welcome. Advance registration is required. Call (630) 444-3190, email programs@kaneforest.com to register or visit www.kaneforest.com.
